What's so special about Zero Rust?...(top) Zero Rust is the most highly refined phenolic-modified alkyd formulation available today in a single-component air-dried coating. Contrary to most of the two-component coatings systems available today, which are hard to work with and require a white sandblast before applying, Zero Rust is easy to work with; it goes on just like paint did 20 years ago. When applying Zero Rust, you need to use only a standard paint fume mask instead of a fresh-air-supplied breathing apparatus (NIOSH MSHA approved TC-23C).
What does Zero Rust do?. .(top) Zero Rust puts down an impermeable barrier at the steel level. This barrier starves oxygen from the substrate, preventing the formation of rust. Zero Rust gives you maximum performance when it is applied directly to metal instead of over existing paint or conversion coats. In other words, the closer you can get Zero Rust to the steel, the better it works.
What about surface preparation?.. (top) The culprit here is loose, scaly or powdery rust
which has air entrapped within its structure and has no inherent physical
strength. Typically, hand tool prep will remove the existing loose rust
and work the surface down to sound tight rust. Then, with the application
of an adequate film of Zero Rust, any remaining tight rust on the substrate
can't breathe, so it can't grow!
Do I need to topcoat Zero Rust?.. (top) No. Top coating is optional. Anything applied
over Zero Rust is for cosmetic purposes only. If you can find the color
you want from our color selection and if Zero Rust's satin finish is acceptable,
use Zero Rust by itself.
So, if Zero Rust is this good, where has it been?..(top) Zero Rust has been field tested since 1988 across a broad range of industrial & commercial uses: automotive restorations, heavy equipment, agricultural, forestry, bridge maintenance and commercial fishing boats, to name just a few.
How do I get started?.. (top) Buy some aerosol cans to try Zero Rust. The product in the aerosol cans is the same as in our bulk products, so it doesn't take a major investment to try our paint.
What colors are available?...(top) Black, red oxide, white, gray, cat yellow, tide
green, tan, and the Safety colors: blue, yellow and red. These colors are
basic, and most users find one of them meets their needs.
How much Zero Rust do I need to use?. (top) 3 to 3.5 mils dft (dry film thickness) over profile yields excellent results. Less that this can yield a "starved" condition resulting in less than optimum results. At the same time, inordinately thick films can be extremely slow to dry/cure. At 3 mils dft, figure about 288 square feet per gallon.
